Everyone who works here is responsible for keeping children and young people safe. This page explains how to raise a concern, including a concern about us.
If a child is at immediate risk
Call 999.
If you are worried about a child but it is not an emergency, contact the local authority safeguarding team. Do not use a form on this website and do not wait for a reply from us. Website forms are not monitored continuously, and a concern about a child should never sit in an inbox overnight.
Raising a concern about our service
If your concern is about something we have done, ring 07904 385455 and ask for the registered manager, and put it in writing to the office afterwards so there is a record.
You can also raise it directly with the placing local authority, or with the Care Quality Commission on 03000 616161. You do not need our permission to do that and you do not need to tell us first.
How we try to prevent harm
- Safer recruitment
- Enhanced DBS checks on everyone, references taken up and verified, full employment history with gaps explained, identity and right to work confirmed, and interviews that ask directly about safeguarding.
- Training before contact
- Safeguarding training is completed before anyone works unsupervised, not afterwards, and it is refreshed rather than done once.
- Supervision and reflective practice
- Staff are supervised regularly and can raise a concern without going through their line manager, which matters when the concern is about that manager.
- Records and escalation
- Every young person has a named worker and a plan recording risks and how we reduce them. Concerns go to the designated safeguarding lead and to the local authority without delay.
Staff who raise concerns
Staff are expected to report anything that worries them, including about a colleague, and are protected when they do. Raising a concern in good faith never counts against someone here, and a member of staff who reports a colleague has done their job rather than caused a problem.
Working with others
We work to the safeguarding procedures of the local authority that placed or funds the young person, and we take part in strategy meetings, child protection conferences and reviews as required.
Our safeguarding policy, our Statement of Purpose and our insurance details are available to commissioners and social workers on request.
