Children's Homes in Northamptonshire

Giant Healthcare Corby provides small children's homes in Northamptonshire for young people who cannot live at home. Our aim is simple: keep young people in the county, near their school, their family and the social worker who knows them, rather than placed hours away because nothing local was available.

  • Small homes, small teams
  • Local placements in Northamptonshire
  • Enhanced DBS and safer recruitment
  • Statement of Purpose available on request
  • Placement enquiries answered the same working day

What our homes are like

Ordinary houses on ordinary streets. Not units, not institutions. A young person has their own bedroom they can make their own, a kitchen they are allowed in, a garden, and neighbours who do not know or need to know why they live there.

We keep occupancy low. Fewer young people in a house means more attention, fewer clashes and a calmer place to live.

A normal week

School or education in the morning, with transport and support to get there. Meals eaten together at a table. Homework, football, gaming, arguments about screen time, someone to talk to at bedtime.

Keywork sessions happen weekly, but most of the important conversations happen while washing up or in the car. We staff for that, not just for the timetable.

Contact with family is arranged around the young person's plan and supported properly, including transport where it is needed.

Who we support

We support young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, learning disabilities, autism and mild to moderate physical disabilities.

We take solo placements where a young person needs to be the only one in a house, and shared placements where living alongside others is right for them.

What we do not take. We do not provide nursing or clinical care. We are honest at referral about behaviour and risk levels we cannot safely manage, and we would rather say no on day one than give notice in week three.

Our approach

Consistency before technique
A young person who has moved five times does not need a new model. They need the same adults turning up, week after week, until they believe it.
Behaviour is communication
We look for what is driving it rather than logging the incident and moving on. Restraint is a last resort, recorded, reviewed and reduced.
Plans made with them
Young people help write their own plan, and they know what is in it. Their views are recorded and acted on.
Education matters
We work with schools, alternative provision and virtual school teams to keep young people in education, and we do the unglamorous work of getting them there each morning.

Our staff

Small, consistent teams who know each young person properly. Every member of staff is recruited under safer recruitment procedures, holds an enhanced DBS check and completes safeguarding, first aid and behaviour support training before working unsupervised.

Staff receive regular supervision and reflective practice, and are supported to complete relevant qualifications. Sleep-in and waking night cover is provided by the same team wherever possible, so nights are not staffed by strangers.

How placements are matched

We consider both planned and emergency placements. For anything urgent, ring rather than email.

  1. 01

    Send the enquiry

Tell us the young person's age, needs, risks and the reason for the move. Send the paperwork you have.

  2. 02

    We assess and match

We look at the young person alongside who already lives in the house, and we complete an impact risk assessment before we say yes.

  3. 03

    Introduction and transition

Where time allows, we plan visits and a phased move at the young person pace. Where it does not, we move quickly and settle them afterwards.

  4. 04

    Placement and review

A plan, a named keyworker, and regular reviews with you.

Check current availability

Safeguarding and quality

Every young person has a named worker and a plan recording risks and how we reduce them. Concerns go to the designated safeguarding lead and to the placing authority without delay.

Independent visits, internal audits and complaints are used to change practice, not filed. Our Statement of Purpose, policies and insurance details are available to commissioners and social workers on request.
