Support Worker Jobs in Northamptonshire
Giant Healthcare Corby is recruiting support workers across Northamptonshire to work with children, young people and young adults. You do not need care experience. You do need to be reliable, patient and willing to keep turning up for someone who is testing whether adults do.

- Full training given
- No care experience needed
- Based in Corby, roles across Northamptonshire
- Enhanced DBS paid for
- Small teams, not agency rotas
What the job is actually like
Some days you will help someone learn to cook a meal, get to college for the first time in months, or say something they have never managed to say before.
Other days you will be sworn at, ignored, tested and blamed for something that is not your fault. Somebody will refuse to get out of bed and you will still be calm about it at the fourth attempt.
Both are the job. If you can hold the second sort of day without taking it personally, and come back the next morning as though it never happened, you will be good at this and we would like to hear from you.
Who we are looking for
Care experience is welcome and not required. We have taken people from retail, hospitality, warehousing, driving and parenting, and trained them well.
- Reliable
- Turning up when you said you would is most of this job. Young people who have been let down repeatedly notice everything.
- Patient
- Progress here is measured in months, not shifts.
- Calm
- Not unshockable, just steady. Reacting less is a skill and it can be learned.
- Willing to learn
- We will train you properly. You need to actually want it.
Roles we recruit for
- Outreach support worker
- Working with children and young people in their family home and out in the community. Flexible hours, often after school, weekends and school holidays.
- Residential support worker
- Working in a children's home with a small team, on a rota including sleep-ins.
- Waking night support worker
- Awake and on duty overnight, providing support and reassurance through the night.
- Supported living support worker
- Working with young adults aged 18 and over in their own tenancies, building independence.
- Team leader and senior roles
- For people with experience and a Level 3 qualification who want to lead a team.
Shifts and sleep-ins
We build rotas as far in advance as we can, because staff who can plan their lives stay longer, and young people benefit from that more than from anything else we do.
- Sleep-in
- You sleep at the home and are available if you are needed during the night. Paid at a set rate on top of your shift.
- Waking night
- You stay awake and on duty throughout the night.
- Outreach shifts
- Usually shorter and spread across the week, often after school and at weekends, which suits people fitting work around study or family.
Training and qualifications
Everyone completes safeguarding, first aid, moving and handling, and behaviour support training before working unsupervised. Not afterwards, and not when we get round to it.
After that, we support people through the Level 3 Diploma for the children and young people's workforce, and the Level 5 for those moving into management.
You are also supervised regularly, and reflective practice is part of the job rather than an extra. Support workers who are supported last.

Safer recruitment
Everyone who works here goes through safer recruitment. That means an enhanced DBS check, a full employment history with gaps explained, references we actually take up, proof of right to work, and an interview that asks directly about safeguarding.
It is thorough on purpose. The young people we support are entitled to that, and so are the colleagues you will work alongside.
Where the roles are
Corby, Kettering, Wellingborough, Rushden, Northampton and the surrounding areas. Tell us where you are and how far you can travel and we will be honest about what is realistic.
A driving licence and access to a vehicle widens what we can offer you, particularly for outreach.
